A Message from the Chief

Infectious Diseases/Global Medicine. Michael Lauzardo, M.D., M.S.

Welcome to the Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine at the University of Florida where our diverse and distinguished faculty are dedicated to excellence in patient care, research, and education. Infectious disease is an exciting field that offers infinite opportunities to impact the health of individual patients and as well as populations. Our faculty is committed to this noble and ambitious goal by providing the highest level of patient-centered care.

The research conducted by the Division of Infectious disease and Global Medicine represents a variety of academic interests and public health priorities, from basic science to translational research. A close partnership with the University of Florida Clinical and Translational Science Institute promotes the process of bringing innovation from bench to bedside. Last but not least, we focus on education by preparing future leaders in infectious disease medicine through a comprehensive fellowship program and by building capacity among current infectious disease specialists and other medical professionals through three federally funded training centers.

The Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine strives to share the advances developed at UF Health with the international community through partnerships and projects around the world in Mexico Haiti, Panama, and Ghana.
