Infectious Diseases/Global Medicine. Michael Lauzardo, M.D., M.S.Welcome to the Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine within the Department of Medicine at the University of Florida. Infectious disease is an exciting field that offers infinite opportunities to impact the health of individual patients and populations. Our diverse and distinguished faculty members are dedicated to excellence in patient care, research and education.

Our clinical faculty is committed to providing the highest level of patient-centered care, by working in the Infectious Disease Clinic at UF Health as well as serving as consultants for cases throughout the state of Florida. The research conducted by the Division of Infectious disease and Global Medicine represents a variety of academic interests and public health priorities, from basic science to translational research. A close partnership with the University of Florida Clinical and Translational Science Institute promotes the process of bringing innovation from bench to bedside. Lastly, we focus on education by preparing future leaders of infectious disease through a comprehensive fellowship program and by equipping current professionals through the coordination of three regional training centers.

The Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine strives to share the advances developed at UF Health with the international community through partnerships around the world. We currently collaborate with programs in Haiti, Zambia, Mexico, Brazil, and beyond.
